UniSec is an air-insulated system, with circuit breakers designed to blow out any arcs by enclosing contacts into a sealed chamber. It comprises a combined sensor, which works alongside an electronic controller to optimize electrical loads, as well as the company’s Relion protective relay, which is programmed to trip circuits when it detects faults.

The company states the switchgear is based on the IEC 61850 standard. The protocol relates to the configuration of intelligent electronic devices for electrical substation automation systems that allows them to communicate with one another.

“Managing a modern data center presents a myriad of challenges, and ABB’s leading-edge technologies help our customers run their operations reliably and effectively 24/7,” said Bruno Melles, managing director of ABB’s medium voltage business.

“Our flexible and smart solutions ensure continuous power supply to support our critical power customers and their business, and allows for easy adaptation and scalability as requirements grow.”
