American colocation provider QuadraNet has opened its first European data center in Amsterdam.
QuadraNet is based in Los Angeles, with seven data center locations across North America.
European expansion
The company said that the 39,000 square foot facility in Amsterdam is aimed at businesses looking to expand into Europe, or migrate infrastructure from an existing European data center.
The facility has access to the major regional Internet exchanges including the Amsterdam Internet Exchange and the Netherlands Internet Exchange.
QuadraNet's global sales manager Dustin Cisneros said: “Our new Amsterdam data center marks QuadraNet’s initial roadmap expansion into Europe.
"This facility allows us to reach new markets and extends the delivery of our full suite of data center solutions. We look forward to providing our colocation, dedicated servers, cloud services and managed hosting solutions to the European market.”
Last week, the company announced the opening of a new data center in Seattle, Washington - a 75,000 square foot facility located in Kent.
The site is situated less than 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, with access to the Seattle Internet Exchange.
QuadraNet offers data center services in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta and Secaucus in New Jersey. The company has just announced a major expansion in Chicago, adding data center space and extra network capacity to existing facilities.
Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most active data center markets, along with Frankfurt, London and Paris – the four cities are popularly known as the FLAP markets.
Last year, German data center provider e-shelter started building its first hyperscale data center in Amsterdam. The 40MW facility is located in the Schiphol Rijks district of the city and the first phase is scheduled to open this year.
