Greek data center player LAMDA Hellix SA has made some changes to the board and its financial arrangements, appointing industry veteran Guy Willner to its board and announcing that founders Apostolos Kakkos and Ioanna Elena Markou have acquired a remaining stake in the company.

Kakkos, who is CEO, and Markou, vice chairman, now own a 100% stake in the colocation provider.

Willner is the co-founder of IXcellerate in Moscow and a board member at Teraco in South Africa and the chairman of the International Data Centre Group (IDC-G) and will serve as a non-executive member of the LAMDA Hellix board.

He was named the DatacenterDynamics Data Center Business Leader of the year for 2012.

Willner also founded IXEurope, which was sold to Equinix for US$555m in 2007.

Kakkos said the changes to its board and financial structure will allow LAMDA Hellix, which launched in 2003, to push ahead with local and international expansion.

“Guy, has been one of the most influential and successful leaders in the European data centre market and beyond for the past decade. His deep knowledge, international experience and entrepreneurship will be a significant additional asset towards realizing our business objectives,” Kakkos said.

LAMDA Hellix operates 34 third-party data centers and has its own facility on a 90,000 sq ft site in Greece.
