South African ICT services provider Dimension Data has is deploying global standard managed data center services - and hopes to quadruple its data center business to US$4bn by 2018.

The new managed services are built on Dimension Data’s Managed Services Automation Platform and will manage server, storage and networks for on-site, cloud and hybrid data centers.

Dimension Data Group Executive for Data Centers Steve Joubert said the company is seeing a shift away from its clients owning and managing their own facilities and instead outsourcing their entire infrastructure, or the management of the environment.

“With Managed Service for Data Centers, clients maintain technology flexibility, while we automate routine transactional and knowledge work across the network, server and storage for on-premise and cloud environments,” Joubert said.

According to Joubert five key benefits of the Managed Service for Data Centers include:
- Both local and multinational clients can receive a ‘consistent’ service experience, irrespective of location, with local deliver expertise.

- Seamless and agile transition and operation across on-premise and cloud environments.

- Support across multi-vendor environments including Cisco, Dell, EMC, HP and Microsoft.

- Client portal and interface focused on business insights and value

- Ability to deliver outcomes-based service level agreements to clients
