American colocation and cloud provider Cosentry is expanding its operations in the US Midwest by adding nearly 32,000 square feet of white space across three sites.

Two of the projects - in Nebraska and Kansas - have already been completed, while the third is still under construction in Wisconsin.

“Many organizations throughout the Midwest are seeking data center services to augment their aging, in-house facilities or have increased disaster recovery, IT security and compliance needs that will be hard to fulfill with existing IT staff,” said Brad Hokamp, CEO of Cosentry.

“These same organizations also realize it is more cost effective to outsource their data center requirements versus investing their own CAPEX—which typically has a 10-15 year payback period.”

Regional focus

Omaha-based Cosentry owns a total of nine data center sites, all located throughout the Midwest. It offers consulting and design services, migration and equipment installation, cloud, colocation, managed security and disaster recovery.

The company has just upgraded its Bellevue Data Center in Omaha , increasing available technical space by 10,000 square feet. The facility in Lenexa - a suburb of Kansas City - has been expanded by 7,000 square feet.

Extension of the Burnham Data Center in Milwaukee is still under construction, and will add 14,000 feet once the facility is commissioned in the beginning of 2016.

Overall, these three projects will enable the company to add over 1,000 server cabinets to meet the growing market demand for hosted data and cloud services.

Cosentry has been growing through both expansion of the existing sites and acquisitions. Last year, it bought managed hosting provider Red Anvil in Milwaukee, and Xiolink, its competitor in Missouri. Both deals included data center assets.

The company recently invested $2 million to upgrade its network with a fully redundant 10Gb MPLS backbone.
