Colocation provider Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has entered a partnership with ESpanix, Spain’s oldest and largest Internet exchange.

The deal enables the company to offer additional interconnection options in its data center in Madrid - a 2,200 square meter (23,680 sq ft) facility with up to 6MW of power capacity.

“The peering services we provide are a critical element of our customers’ connectivity strategies. It’s great to work with a trusted partner like Colt Data Centre Services to deliver communications and connectivity services to Spanish networks Cloud and Content providers,” said Cristóbal López, manager at ESpanix.

Making new friends

Colt DCS owns 24 carrier-neutral data centers across Europe, and manages a further seven in the Asia-Pacific region. The company focuses on colocation; meanwhile the networking part of the business maintains direct fiber connections into more than 22,000 buildings worldwide.

ESpanix was established in 1997 as a non-profit association for network operators. Today, it runs carrier-neutral interconnection facilities and peering platform that provides services and representation to over 90 members.

Following the announcement, ESpanix will deploy a Point of Presence in Colt’s data center in Madrid, enabling its customers to easily access local and international network carriers.

Earlier this year, Colt opened its fifth data center in Japan.
