Connexions for London (C4L) has chosen data center provider Zayo Group to deploy a network of fiber links. The network would diversely interconnect 27 C4L data centers between London Docklands and Slough.

The project aims to build on an earlier Zayo deployment which provided dark fiber links between 15 C4L locations in London Docklands data centers. The new networks would provide underlying dark fiber infrastructure for C4L’s recently announced coreTX high-performance MPLS network.

The coreTX network connects over 55 data centers across the UK, including the recently opened Infinity SDC Slough.

Matt Hawkins, chairman of C4L, said extending the company’s network infrastructure and its capabilities is part of its vision to continue breaking down barriers faced by the UK technology community.

“We chose Zayo as a partner because for its existing coverage and in-depth expertise in fibre infrastructure, meaning we could depend on a quick, high-quality fibre roll-out and excellent ongoing operations,” Hawkins said.

Zayo this week won a contract to install a Point of Presence (PoP) network for SSE Telecoms, the network infrastructure and data center service provider arm of the SSE Group.
