Atos Origin, an international information technology services company, has signed a five-year IT service contract with Alcatel-Lucent Network Services (ALNS). Under the terms of the contract, Atos Origin has been awarded with the operation and support of the mobile phone network servers, and the management of some mobile phone network applications. Atos Origin will provide this service in specific ALNS locations and from its own datacenter. ALNS is a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent in charge of the development, operation and maintenance of E-Plus mobile phone network, the third largest mobile phone provider in Germany. ALNS continues to manage, to maintain and rollout networks for customers like E-Plus.
Beside the reduction of IT-expenses, Alcatel-Lucent Network Services sees several advantages in cooperating with Atos Origin: flexibility will increase as IT-costs are linked to the development of the company's core business, customer networks management. ALSN will benefit from the new measurement and reporting system that improves transparency with regard of the performance of the service provider.
"In this partnership the IT spending develops according to the real demand for IT services, says Christian Bruckner, managing director of Alcatel-Lucent Network Services. "From now on we can respond with flexibility to new business opportunities and we can control the costs of our customer's networks management, says Bruckner.
"We can provide our customer with maximum transparency and flexibility", says Peter t Jong, CEO of Atos Origin Germany. "At the same time we optimise the overall expenditure for operating the IT infrastructure."
Alcatel-Lucent Network Services GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the network and telecommunications supplier Alcatel-Lucent. In March 2007, the company took over responsibility for the construction, operation and maintenance of the mobile telephone network of E-Plus, the third largest mobile telephone provider in Germany. "Our customers expect the optimal network quality and an attractive price-performance ratio", says Thorsten Dirks, CEO of E-Plus Group. "Our outsourcing projects with Alcatel-Lucent Network Services and Atos Origin have brought the expected quality and cost advantages.
