HP has been busy reshuffling its board of directors and hiring a CIO for its software division and an SVP of engineering for its cloud business unit.

HP’s current president and CEO Meg Whitman has been appointed chairman of the board of directors following the departure of Ralph Whitworth.

Whitworth announced on Tuesday his resignation – effective July 16 - from the board to focus on his health.

“I’m extremely pleased that the board has elected Meg as its chairman,” Whitworth said.

Current director Pat Russo has been appointed as the company’s lead independent director.

Additionally CEO and chairman of Alcoa, Klaus Kleinfeld, has been appointed to HP’s board, bringing the total number of board members to 12.

Both Whitman and Russo began their current roles in 2011.

In addition former president and CEO of Liberty Media Robert Bennett has been appointed chairman of the Finance and Investment Committee.

HP has hired former Rackspace SVP of products and engineering Mark Interrante as its SVP of engineering.

Interrante joined Rackspace in 2010 and previously held positions at Yahoo and Spoke Software.

HP also appointed former VMware VP of cloud operations Paul Chapman as CIO for its software division.

As part of his role Chapman will be responsible for maintaining performance and reliability for Autonomy cloud services.

Verizon appoints VP for APAC business
Broadband and telecommunications company Verizon has promoted its former managing director Francis Yip to group VP of Verizon, Asia Pacific, following the retirement of Andrew Dobbins last month.

Yip will be responsible for delivering strategic cloud, security, mobility, network and connected machines solutions to Verizon's multinational enterprise clients across APAC.

He has previously held positions at Dimension Data and Equant (now Orange Business Systems).

Verizon Enterprise Solutions president Christopher Formant said Yip’s in-depth understanding of technology businesses in Asia, particularly in emerging markets, will be instrumental in helping Verizon’s customers move their businesses forward.

CloudPhysics names Jeffery Hausman as CEO
Predictive analytics company CloudPhysics has named industry veteran Jeffery Hausman as CEO and member of the board of directors.

Hausman has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry including cloud, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), virtualization and storage.

Hausman most recently held the position of SVP at Symnatec and was responsible for its Information Availability and Intelligence group.

Founding CEO John Blumenthal will lead product strategy as VP of product management and will remain on the company’s board of directors.

Hausman has previously held executive positions at Veritas, Symantec and HP.

RF Code appoints new CEO
Real-time asset management company RF code has hired Ed Healy as CEO following the departure of Mitch Medford.

Medford is stepping down to pursue personal business opportunities but said he will continue to provide advisory support.

Healy has more than 30 years of senior leadership experience in accelerating the growth of technology companies.

Healy will remain MediaTek’s senior advisor to the chairman.

Medford said this is an exciting step in RF Code’s growth strategy.

“We drove the business to a profitable level with marquee enterprise customers, but to continue to the next level, we needed a seasoned veteran like Ed who has built major businesses. I am excited to see the growth and expansion he will bring to the company,” Medford said.
