Check Point has introduced two new security gateways with high data throughput and low latency aimed at data center environments.

The new Check Point 13800 and 21800 appliances have been billed as ‘data center security gateways’ designed to meet demanding workloads with multi-layered security.

The 13800 Appliance runs intrusion prevention system (IPS) throughput at a maximum of 6.5 Gbps while the 21800 Appliance can perform at 7 Gbps.

Check Point claims the new systems have higher serviceability and reliability and will help data centers to minimise maintenance costs.

Both systems conform to Check Point’s multi-layer security discipline and have four pre-defined security packages, the Next Generation Firewall, Threat Prevention, Data Protection and Secure Web Gateway.

The Check Point 13800 Appliance can support up to 26 1GB Ethernet ports or 12 ports of 10GB throughput.

The 21800 Appliance has a security acceleration module option, which ramps firewall performance up to 110 Gbps and can reduce firewall latency to under 5 microseconds, claims Check Point.

It can support up to 37 1Gb Ethernet ports or 13 10Gb Ethernet ports.

The 13800 appliance starts at US$99,000 and the 21800 at $135,000.
