Panel: A focus on NOVA: how will the market fare in 2023?

Despite a years-long push to spread digital infrastructure across a broader geographic footprint, hyperscale infrastructure is still heavily concentrated in the United States - home to over half of the world’s operational hyperscale data centers. Notably, well over 1/3 of the US capacity resides in just one state – Virginia, more specifically Northern Virginia, otherwise known as the Internet Capital of the World.

With thousands of MWs housed across NOVA, specifically within Loudoun, Prince William and Fairfax, there is growing concern that the region could run out of affordable land, cheap power and patience from a residential community in protest against the climate footprint of 'buildings full of computers' on their doorstep.

We ask our panel of land and data center development experts to assess just how much more MWs of installed capacity the undisputed capital of data centers worldwide will be able to house.
