Carbon neutral data centre industry – no longer ‘when’ but ‘how’
Every year the world generates more than 50 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases. Data centers contribute to 2% of this total amount and will increase as the industry is predicted to grow at 13% over the next five years in Asia alone. Concurrently, governments are under pressure to roll out legislation to reduce greenhouse emissions, suppliers are struggling to keep up with the power demand and technology giants are promising investors they will be carbon neutral. Providers need to be designing and building data centres to solve these issues as it is now no longer a future requirement.
