A Queensland property developer has bought local bank Suncorp’s half share of the Polaris Data Centre, which sits on its development, for A$110.5m.

According to a report by Queensland’s Courier Mail newspaper, confirmed on Springfield Land Corporation’s Twitter feed, the Tier III data center is now part of Springfield’s overall property portfolio.

Springfield Land Corporation is behind a 2860 development in the state capital Brisbane that covers residential, commercial, education and health facilities alongside a technology park, where the data center is located.

The Polaris data center itself is worth A$221m and currently provides IT solutions to both business and government customers.

NEC runs the Polaris data center, which offers N+2 redundancy, dual power and utility backup and offers connections at 100Mbps.

It covers 14,000 sq m over five stories.

It is also known for its green credentials, using recycled water as its main supply, high efficiency water cooling and a rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply.

Springfield has its own dark fiber network that forms the backbone of  its development and provides connectivity to the data center.
