Global pharmaceutical supplier Colorcon is deploying Tintri’s smart storage solution to underpin its entire virtualization environment.

Colorcon said maintaining a high speed-to-market is crucial to its reputation and it relies on a fully optimized, high performing IT infrastructure to meet its tight timeframes.

Its legacy SAN was struggling to support its VMware and Windows environments across its global operations which are constantly expanding.

Colorcon’s IT team said it was facing the time-consuming and inefficient trouble-shooting processes on a day-to-day basis.

Colorcon is using four of Tintri’s VMstore T540 storage arrays- two in its UK data center and two at its US facility in Pennsylvania.

The solution also allows Colorcon to replicate critical VMs from the US to the UK for disaster recovery purposes.

Colorcon said since using the solution it has improved administration times and cut VM deployment times by 10 X.

Colorcon’s manager of global network architecture Paul Newman said the company is saving over an hour per week for routine maintenance, including software upgrades and configuring new logical unit numbers.

“Tintri’s intuitive user interface enables us to quickly identify problem virtual machines. This is essential for the fast-paced pharmaceutical sector. I can immediately see if one VM is bringing down performance across the entire stack,” Newman said.
