Fusion-io has optimized its Fusion ioMemory for performance with Microsoft’s SQL Server 2014.

The Fusion ioMemory platform builds upon the in-memory in SQL Server 2014 and is said to deliver up to 4x improvements in transactions per second and a significant reduction in data latencies in testing.

Fusion-io said the transactional performance from Fusion-io flash memory products drives real-time insights for faster business decisions.

Microsoft’s SQL server 2014 delivers in-memory capabilities built into the core databases for online transaction processing (OLTP) that speeds the process to analyze real-time transaction data.

It said combined with Fusion-io cut through architecture it can drive the highest performance level of transactions with the simplest, most cost-effective approach compared to legacy architectures.

Fusion-io said is ioMemory offers tens of terabytes of high-performance flash per server to deliver real-time business insights at a fraction of the cost of scaling out disks for performance.

Fusion-io’s president and COO Lance Smith said it is entering the age of in-memory databases and Microsoft’s adoption of in-memory OLTP is a crucial step in that direction.
