Equinix has signed up one of Russia’s largest telecommunications operators CJSC TransTeleCom (Company TTK) to its global network, allowing participants in the Equinix Marketplace access to Russian markets.

Equinix Europe CMO Dick Theunissen said the partnership means Company TTK is the first Russian operator to roll out an extensive global footprint with the global colo provider.

Under the arrangement Company TKK will deploy a network node in Tokyo and put high-capacity internet and Ethernet exchange connections in to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Silicon Valley, Ashburn, London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt - all key financial hubs.

“Company TTK’s presence inside Equinix data centers creates an important new global gateway to the vibrant Russian market for network, finance, enterprise, content and cloud customers,” Theunissen said.

Company TTK VP and head of Backbone Unit Vitaly Kotov said the agreement will allow the Equinix Ethernet Exchange to virtually connect with every lit building in the Russian Federation through the company’s fiber-optic network.

“Our global deployment with Equinix puts the Russian markets in closer contact with global business and financial centers,” Kotov said.

“When building connectivity to our extensive footprint in the Russian Federation, international companies, financial institutions can gain performance and security benefits.”

Company TTK has low-latency land routes already established between Western European and Asian markets. With Equinix, it will focus on offering IP peering and Layer 2 connectivity.

Through its access to Platform Equinix, Company TTK will have its own storefront in the Equinix Marketplace, which allows participants to connect to more than 4,000 networks, enterprises and cloud and content service providers.
