Luxembourg-based web hosting and colocation provider Server.lu, which has a 1,500 sq m data center in Steinsel, has been acquired by web hosting company Webzilla.

Webzilla Group, which is owned by XBT Holidings, offers dedicated hosting and colocation services out of Tier 1 data centers in Dallas and the Netherlands (where it has two facilities) with a 1,000 Gbps backbone connection.

Server.lu first established its Luxembourg data center in 2009 with dark fiber connections to LuxConnect, and is also connected to the Amsterdam Internet Exchange. This year it upgraded its link to Amsterdam to cater to 20Gbps.

Webzilla Group co-founder and CTO Konstantin Bezruchenko said Server.lu is a perfect fit for Webzilla’s brand, which markets to similar clientele including financial services companies, forex brokers and game developers in need of fast connections.

“They offer Luxembourg’s best parallel computing technology and are thought leaders in the hosting business,” Bezruchenko said.

“We are united by a common culture that includes a passion for innovating and driving a positive consumer experience.”

Webzilla customers currently include united World Capital, Forex Club, FosterPay, FX Open, MasterForex, Game Insight and Youdo.

Server.lu claims to be the leading hosting company in Luxembourg, with about 2,000 servers and more than 1,800 registered domain names and more than 60Gbps of available bandwidth.

Webzilla CFO Rajesh Kumar Mishra said Webzilla plans to use the purchase to strengthen its own position in Europe.
