Indian IT organization Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) – part of the Tata Group – has extended its partnership with VMware to create pre-integrated and pre-tested solutions to accelerate the adoption and deployment of enterprise scale applications as well as end user computing solutions running on a software-defined data center (SDDC) architecture powered by VMware infrastructure.

TCS and VMware said the partnership aims to help firms achieve lower operating costs, increased performance, availability, reliability, security and faster service delivery. The pair will initially provide offerings for SAP, Oracle and Enterprise Analytics.

TCS will provide architectural design, transformation, and operational ‘expertise’ to allow customers to transform their business and applications. VMware will provide its SDDC portfolio, including virtualized compute, network and storage utilizing VMware vSphere, VMware NSX, VMware Virtual SAN and VMware vRealize Suite.

TCS’s VP and global head of alliances and technology unit Raman Venkatraman said: “with the VMware infrastructure and converged cloud services offerings, TCS will be able to rapidly design, transform and operate traditional IT into SDDC’s, and deploy mission-critical enterprise workloads in weeks versus years.”

The companies will also jointly create a Center of Excellence (CoE) with two data center locations in Milford, Ohio and Pune, India. The CoE will give customers the ability to beta test real-world application workloads and assess the value and effort to deploy apps in an SDDC.
