Car manufacturer Nissan is opening a new data center in Aguascalientes, Mexico – its second in the state.

The data center will contain Nissan’s infrastructure and communications systems used for its manufacturing plant.

It is Nissan’s third data center in the country. It has been built as part of an overall investment of US$2bn for an upgrade for manufacturing capacity to meet high demand now being seen for vehicles and Mexico and abroad.

The new complex is in the south of Aguascalientes close to the state’s airport.

Nissan said it is housed in a large manufacturing plant, which in Phase 1 will produce 175,000 units a year.

The facility is due to come online by the end of this year.
