I3 Solutions Group, the cross-domain IT consultancy opened an office in London, a US Government Services office focusing on federal IT consulting and announced the appointment of Peter Gross to its board of directors.

The company, headed by Michael Garibaldi and Ed Ansett was set up to address what Ansett describes as a fundamental problem with information technology consulting - namely the lack of coherence across IT spanning, applications, technology infrastructure and power and cooling.

"There is a lack of consistency across technology strategy, design, implementation and operation in the market. There is also inconsistency across the IT stack. The major consulting firms tend to focus on business process and applications consulting and less on technology infrastructure. Similarly systems integrators concentrate on technology hardware and have little ability in critical facilities. Naturally the large OEMs have expertise in many areas, but are predisposed to their own hardware or software products. As an independent consultant with expertise in each field we engage at any point in a project," said Ansett.

"Clients are moving away from traditional technology silos and recognise the benefits that converged technology and critical facilities bring to asset optimization, efficiency, performance and ROI."

Peter Gross recently joined i3 as global board member. He said: "i3 represents a step forward in the evolution of technology consulting. An independent firm with expertise that spans the spectrum of information technology from data centers to the corporate workspace, encompassing technology infrastructure and critical facilities has inherent advantages in an industry where the convergence of these disciplines is absolutely inevitable."

I3 will present at the DatacenterDynamics Singapore, Melbourne and London conferences.
