The European Data Centre Association, (EUDCA) has officially launched with the of aim of the establishment of best practice, education, industry leadership and technical standards and as a lobby group to policy makers.
In a statement the alliance said 'there are lots of organisations and associations that represent data centres either locally, or sometimes nationally, but this is just not enough. It is sensible, or even vital, in the complex governmental, official, and business world of today for those who have similar interests or goals to join together to create a strong industry body.'

The first EUDCA chairman is Bernard Lecanu.

The EUDCA will proactively generate ideas that influence debate at technical, environmental and political level. It is easier for external bodies at a European, national and local level to be able to deal with one association, representing a number of interests, it said.

The Articles of Association have been formally accepted and the EUDCA is recognised as a legal association.

The interim Board has worked on a roadmap for the association to define what it will deliver on behalf of its members and the industry as a whole.
