1-Net Singapore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cyber CSF in Indonesia and TCC Technology (TCCT) in Thailand, as well as telecommunications service provider PCCW Global in Hong Kong to expand its network in Asia.

The collaboration will enable the data centers operated by the various partners to connect back to 1-Net in Singapore to form a cost-effective inter-connection. According to 1-Net, this will allow for the ability to cache high demand applications and content on their respective networks to enhance security, connectivity and reliability.

In an email to DatacenterDynamics FOCUS, 1-Net noted that this collaboration is in line with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Masterplan. The plan calls for Singapore to be positioned as a “Digital Harbour” to drive more data, content and digital services into Singapore through the inter-connectivity of data centers here.

“We are delighted to partner with the Asia’s leading data center providers to introduce a high-speed access network in Asia. Global data center traffic growth will be almost tripled by 2018, and the introduction of the data center corridor will be the key catalyst for this growth,” said Mr. Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net. “With this new initiative, businesses can now focus on what’s important, knowing that their back-end IT is taken care of.”

Earlier this year, 1-Net announced a new 200,000 sq ft 1-Net North data center facility located at Marsiling in Singapore. 1-Net North is expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2015, and be Singapore’s first Tier III data center certified by the Uptime Institute.

Just last month, 1-Net announced a strategic partnership with Cyber CSF and TCCT. The collaboration is designed to offer local customers with seamless access to data center services in the region, allowing them to access to a comprehensive portfolio of data center services, cloud offerings, and network and security solutions from the three data center operators.

It is understood that PCCW Global has also entered into a similar partnership with 1-Net on top of the inter-connection agreement.
