Vendor and end user technology standards and lobbying body The Green Grid named Mark Schiller as executive director.

“I am honored and delighted to join the many efficiency-conscious companies, government agencies, educational institutions and individuals that make up The Green Grid,” said Schiller.

In his role as executive director, Schiller will coordinate global activities and champion The Green Grid’s mission to advance energy efficiency in data centres and the broader business computing ecosystem.

In prior roles Schiller served in various executive and corporate-representation leadership roles for several IT trade association and standards efforts, including the Trusted Computing Group.

Schiller replaces Mark Monroe who left in August to join DLB Associates.

Ark Continuity Limited (Ark), appointed Huw Owen as Chief Executive Officer. Owen formerly worked at BT and HP owned EDS. Steve Hall is appointed as Sales Director reporting to Owen. Steve was previously UK Public Sector Sales Director at HP.  The Right Honourable Baroness Manningham-Buller, DCB, life peer in the House of Lords and former Director General of the Security Service (MI5) and Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO of ACN Europe BV are appointed non-Executive Directors.

UK firm Keysource has appointed Jon Barton as Financial Director and Paula Mitchell as HR Director.

In the US BJ Jenkins became CEO of Barracuda Networks. The former head of EMC’s enterprise storage systems business joined the pre-IPO storage and networking firm.
