Fujitsu plans to launch a cloud data center in Thailand next month to meet growing demands for services in the country.
According to a report by the Bangkok Post, Fujitsu will offer IT help desk and data center management services to cater for the growing mobile market in Thailand from the facility.
Fujitsu Systems Business Thailand president Masayuki Kunimaru told the paper that it believes the IT management services market in Thailand will be worth about 5.7m baht this year, and it expect spending to rise in coming years.
"We expect revenue from our local unit to exceed 3 bn baht for our fiscal 2013 ending next March 31, up by 18.6% from last year," Kunimaru said.
The company will be targeting companies in the retail, financial services and manufacturing sectors.
In 2008, Fujitsu opened a data center in the Bang Na district of Bangkok offering IT services.
In May this year, Fujitsu president Masami Yamamoto said Fujitsu plans to double its revenue from Asia over the next two years, using Thailand as a base to push into new markets like Laos and Burma.
"This year, we will have investments and business expansions in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, |and Thailand will be the centre of our expansion into these four markets," Yamamoto told local news site The Nation.
The company is also expanding in other emerging markets, Fujitsu SVP of emerging markets Niamh Spelman said at the start of this year.
At the start of this year she said the company has grown its business by 40% in Russia and CIS, more than 200% in India and 28% in the Middle East, and that much of this growth has been the result of demand for cloud services.
