Boston, Mass.-based energy and cogeneration investor Alea Management is negotiating with landowners to secure a data center site in the Menomonee River Valley in Milwaukee, Wis.

According to an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the company is eyeing land near a power plant for a 75,000-sq-ft data center. The firm it targeting the research sector.

By building the facility near the Menomonee Valley power plant, the company is hoping to lower its operating costs by taking advantage of low-cost power.

Alea is executing the project through its affiliate Source IT Energy. Besides the Milwaukee facility, the company is planning to build two more data centers in Wausau, Wis., and Detroit, Mich.

Alea Management was founded in 2008.
