The Nepalese press has reported that the South Korean government is extending a grant of US$2.5 million to help establish an integrated data and training center in the country. The center will be administered by the National Information Technology Center (NITC) and will become a safe repository for government electronic data and all state agency information.
Speaking to The Kathmandu Post, Dr Subarna Shakya, executive director of NITC said that NITC will initiate necessary works to establish the center soon after formally entering into an agreement with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in May. KOICA is a South Korean government-owned organization, which is funding the project. "
If everything goes according to plan, the country will see its first data and training center in five years, he said
