International bandwidth infrastructure provider Zayo Group has acquired Colo Facilities Atlanta (AtlantaNAP) an Atlanta-based data center and managed services provider.

Zayo Group’s colocation division zColo has acquired more than 72,000 sq ft of total data center space which includes 42,000 sq ft of conditioned colocation space.

The acquisition of AtlantaNap will bring Zayo’s total data center count to 28 locations.

Zayo said its current Atlanta fiber network reach is more than 600 route miles so the addition of an Atlanta-based facility is a great addition.

The Atlanta facility is connected to most colocation facilities via high-count and diverse fiber rings which Zayo said will provide zColo customers with increased connectivity options.

The SSAE 16 type II compliant facility offers 5Mw of fully redundant 2N UPS power, serviced from diverse utility feeds.

Zayo said the site will offer its full suite of lit bandwidth services and access to its metro and long-haul dark fiber backbones.

zColo VP Grg Friedman said Atlanta is a high demand colo market with a growing hub for healthcare, technology and large enterprises.

“The AtlantaNAP facility offers customers a highly secure and redundant infrastructure, and will now be able to leverage Zayo’s existing fiber footprint to provide a connectivity-driven colocation offering in Atlanta for new and existing customers,” Friedman said.

The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed.
