Colorado-based tw telecom is extending its nationwide network and product suite by introducing services to customers in the Boston metro area.

The company is deploying its Business Ethernet and Intelligent Network capabilities, to connect enterprise customers across the Boston area to local and national destinations.

tw telecom has agreements with Boston area data center providers to provide networking solutions to their facilities' tenants.

tw telecom is now working with The Markley Group, to provide networking solutions to customers in what it claims is New England's largest multi-tenant, mission-critical telecommunications and data center facility.

It also has an agreement in place with ColoSpace, a provider of outsourced data center and managed services, to offer networking services to customers in its Waltham data center.

tw telecom said the Boston expansion is part of a national multi-market effort by the company to expand its metro fiber footprint across the country this year.

In addition to Boston, tw telecom has already entered into three other new markets – Salt Lake City, Philadelphia and Richmond and plans to enter into the Cleveland market this year.

The company is also accelerating the density of its metro-fiber footprint in more than a third of its existing markets.

tw telecom area VP Mike Gearin said “Boston businesses now have access to our nationwide Business Ethernet, Intelligent Network, cloud and IP networking solutions as well as our ecosystem of on-net data centers.”

In June it was announced Level 3 will be acquiring tw telecom, the acquisition is expected to be completed by Q4 2014.
