Red Hat reveals three OpenStack projects at the OpenStack Summit in Atlanta
Open source technology solutions vendor Red Hat has revealed three collaboration projects at the OpenStack Summit in Atlanta.

Red Hat and NetApp are working on an open hybrid cloud reference architecture based on the latest version of OpenStack-OpenStack IceHouse.

The reference architecture will allow customers to integrate Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform with NetApp storage and data management.

It will also work with ManageIQ to create an Open Source community.

Red Hat will contribute software acquired from ManageIQ and provide integration and orchestration content for lab automation.

Red Hat said the community takes the next step in bringing together developers, service providers, system integrators, researchers and users for collaborating towards an open management platform for OpenStack and open hybrid clouds.

eNovance and Red Hat are partnering up and focusing on OpenStack.

The pairing will deliver OpenStack integration services and continue to contribute code to OpenStack upstream for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) innovation.

The companies also announced an Early Adopter Program for carriers and telecom providers interested in exploring OpenStack for their cloud deployments.

Internap’s AgileCLOUD  available in OpenStack Marketplace
Internet infrastructure services provider Internap has announced the general availability of its scalable cloud platform AgileCLOUD.

Internap said key features of its next-gen AgileCLOUD include:
- Server performance tiers and custom configuration for maximum flexibility for its customers.

- All-Solid State Drive storage with guaranteed performance which prevents performance variations stemming from the ‘noisy neighbour’ effect of multitenancy and guarantees quality of service

- Cloud network optimization. AgileCLOUD is underpinned by Internap’s Performance IP bandwidth to deliver consistently higher performance and lower latency to end users when compared to other clouds.

Internap’s next-generation AgileCLOUD is currently available out of its Dallas data centre and will be rolled out across its worldwide cloud locations – including eastern and western United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific – over the remainder of 2014.

Bare-metal configurations are expected to be available during the summer.

Mirantis helps users identify OpenStack cloud-ready infrastructure vendors
Pure play OpenStack vendor Mirantis has revealed its web-based dashboard that gives OpenStack users immediate information on all infrastructure vendors that have invested in making their solutions interoperable with the OpenStack cloud platform.

The dashboard is based on the Apache 2.0 codebase of the associated DriverLog project maintained by the OpenStack community.

Mirantis said the information on OpenStack compatible vendors aggregated by the DriverLog project is kept up to date via an open peer-review process.

As well as being able to filter and search for various infrastructure vendors and associated driver code the DriverLog dashboard at stackalytics.com also provides:
- Access to instructions on how to configure any vendor's product with OpenStack.

- Information on whether a vendor's driver is embedded in the upstream codebase of an OpenStack release.

- Information on whether a vendor has deployed an automated test infrastructure that provides feedback on the vendor's driver functional and integration tests.

- Quick shortcuts for OpenStack deployers to contact maintainers of vendor drivers in case they run into issues.

The dashboard is available now.

Brocade and Huawei propose OpenStack orchestration beyond a single data center
Networking solutions vendor Brocade and Chinese networking and telco equipment vendor Huawei have announced a proposal for a new OpenStack service to support inter-data center multitenancy.

Brocade said for companies with multiple data centers it will provide a more flexible and automate solution that addresses the challenge of maintaining connectivity and policy context for virtual machines migrating between facilities.

Brocade claims this proposal is the first effort of its kind and addresses a key challenge for companies with numerous facilities as a distributed pool of on-demand resources.

The two companies said for Managed Service Provider and Cloud Service Provider companies this proposal, has the potential to simplify the manageability and overall efficiency of inter-data center multitenancy.
