Real estate vendor Jones Lang laSalle has sold a 48,000 sq ft data center in Milton Keynes called Brick Close to Nuco Technologies.
Nuco plans to transform the data center, previously operated by a UK bank, into a Tier IV facility catering to more than 600 racks with 4MW of power.
It plans to invest £5m in the development, which will begin operations in Q3 this year.
Nuco currently provides IT services from data centers in Northampton and Bletchley.
London Data Exchange’s new UPS
Emerson Network Power’s Chloride 80-NET UPS system will be used by colo provider London Data Exchange in its LDeX1 North London data center for redundant power feeds.
The solution offers feeds on separate distribution paths, allowing for the delivery of clean power to every client server rack using an N+N design.
By April this year the data center will hold 450 server racks. The London Data Exchange said the new UPS solution was required to meet its growing capacity and to help it grow out to a 2MW power design in future.
Peer1 offers e-commerce solutions
Hosting provider Peer1 has teamed up with Oracle ATG to offer e-commerce solutions.
Peer 1 opened a data center in Portsmouth last year. It said the ATG Accelerator allows retailers to rollout solutions within minutes, regardless of language and country.
The solution will leverage Peer1’s 10Gb fiber network and an inhouse environment that Peer1 said can be optimized for retail customers.
Sudlows get Zen
Sudlows has been appointed for the design and build of a new data centre for Rochdale based Zen Internet. Zen Internet is investing £4m in a new purpose built facility at its North West headquarters. Andy Hirst, Global Projects Director at Sudlows, said: “The design of the new data centre will provide Zen with the ideal platform to offer their customers secure and fully resilient fast connections and ensure they maintain their status as the best ISP service provider in the UK.” It will be a 1,350 sq metre Tier 2 facility
