A Washington-State startup Visualiiz announced on Monday general availability of its data center asset management software LightsOn that provides 3D visualization of data center equipment to help data center managers optimize the use of their facilities’ resources.
Asset tracking and management is part of the growing market for data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions. The space is developing rapidly as data center infrastructure is becoming increasingly complex and hard to manage using traditional manual approaches.
Vizualiiz CTO Craig Kelly said there were pressures on data center managers to cut escalating costs and maximize utilization of assets on hand, as business demands grow.
“We developed LightsOn(TM) to bring a higher threshold of visibility and transparency to asset management while ensuring ease-of-use through visualization technology,” he said.
The company says its patent-pending 3D visualization technology provides data center managers with a game-like experience to view all data center assets, their locations and critical details about them.
LightsOne talks to other software through open APIs, is vendor-agnostic and can use both traditional barcoding or advanced radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for data input.
The control pane can be accessed on the premises or through the Cloud. Vizualiize provides complete training, installation and support for its customers.
Vizualiize, which started in 2010, is a subsidiary of Edifice Technologies, a company focused on data center asset management.
