Virtus Data Centers has finished the first phase of its Tier III Enfield data center in North London.
The Tier III Enhanced Data Centre has 802 sq m of technical space with 200 sq m of self contained data center halls with an average power density of 1,500 Watts per sq m.
Testing on the data halls has shown a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness rating) of 1.428 at 600 KW (100%) load with an external temperature of 15 degrees Celsius.
The first phase build is already 75% occupied. (See our image for the original plans of the data center.)
Two phases are planned for the data center, both to Tier III mechanical TIA standards, both with N+1 redundancy and 2N configurations for uninterruptable power supplies (UPS) and associated switchgear, according to Virtus operations director David Watkins.
\"Each phase includes the installation of all plant and ancillary equipment to supply the level of redundancy and resilience required whilst making provision for the future phase connections and commissioning,\" Watkins said.
\"Each phase is constructed to ensure no interruptions to the existing infrastructure and data halls during the installation and commissioning of future phases. This is a highly resilient and commercially viable facility that has generated significant interest prior to go-live.\"
The second phase will cover 1,678 sq m of data center space. Work has already commenced on this and is due to finish in Q4 his year.
Virtus Data Centers is a new mid-market entrant to the data center sector.
Virtus managing director Warren Barrie said the company has more data center sites in the pipeline, the second of which will be announced in the near future.
