In announcing its new cloud-based infrastructure offering on Wednesday, SunGard Availability Services placed a lot of emphasis on security and adequacy of the service for production applications. 

Both factors have been important in development of cloud services over the past several years. Security has been a major deal-breaker for companies used to storing their data within facilities they operate. Many companies that did brave the bridge started their venture into the cloud with non-critical R&D and testing workloads.

Addressing both of these issues, SunGard said its new Enterprise Cloud Services provide managed compute, network, storage and security services \"that support customer production applications.\" The company is offering both multi-tenant and dedicated private-cloud solutions.

The Infrastructure-as-a-Service products come with 99.5%-availability SLAs for both hardware and virtual infrastructure, housed somewhere within SunGard
