Mission critical facilities industry pioneer, i3 Solutions’ Ed Ansett, to keynote DCD Converged HK, sharing insights and learnings from recent high-profile data center failures
As business becomes more data-centric, the risks and costs associated with failure become more severe. Pioneer of the mission critical facilities industry as well as Co-Founder and Chairman of the i3 Solutions Group, Ed Ansett, will therefore keynote DCD Converged Hong Kong, 9 November by addressing the causes of data center failure. Walking the audience through the case studies of 7 high-profile Asian data center failures that have shaken the industry recently, Ed Ansett will highlight the key lessons that the industry can take from them.
At DCD Converged SE Asia in September, Ed Ansett looked at cybersecurity and provided an instructive rundown of startling cyber-attacks on critical IT infrastructure. However, with the possibility of failure now reaching across IT operation at all points of infrastructure and software, Ed Ansett’s keynote will provide an important call to action across the whole industry in dealing with this pervasive and ever-present risk.
When asked whether presenting a keynote to start the conference which deals with the issue of failures sets a negative tone, Ed Ansett replied, “The data center industry wants and needs to hear about this. Data center failure needs to be discussed and analysed transparently so we can learn from what has gone wrong. We have seen a worryingly high number of failures in resilient systems despite the efforts made to prevent this in recent years, therefore we need to ask why this is happening, and how we can do better at protecting our critical IT infrastructure and systems against it”.
What’s coming next?: Preparing the industry for the continuing evolution of cyber-physical infrastructure
Joining Ed Ansett on the conference programme are 30 local and international speakers including Leo Chen, IDC Senior Architect at Alibaba Infrastructure Service, Christoph Ganswindt, Executive Director of Information Technology and Sustainability at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Andrew Anker, former Head of Infrastructure Services and CISO at AIA. Through the day, recognised experts will deal with the industry’s critical topics including data center design for cloud, best practices in cloud deployment, how to drive smarter and more efficient IT infrastructure through design and operation and how to ensure that SDDC represents ROI for your company.
7th DCD Converged Hong Kong is a highlight of the 1st Hong Kong Data Center Week. To cater to global interest in this key data center and IT hub city, DCD has launched a full Data Center Week calendar, including Data Center tours and industry trainings, and the 3rd DCD APAC Awards from 7-11 November – please click here for more details.
