Schroff has announced the release of the modular Power System 1400, which provides all the functionality required for today's high-reliability datacomms and telecomms applications.
Designed to accommodate up to eight 200W plug-in PSUs in a 3U-high 19in. enclosure, the PS1400 can be configured as an n+1 redundant system with hot-swap capability and offers a battery backup facility for operation in UPS mode.
The system provides a total of 21 individually fused 56VDC outputs - nine on the front panel and a further 12 at the rear - and delivers a maximum output power of 1400W.
Up to two 48V sealed lead-acid battery units can be connected to the system, giving a total minimum backup time of 4 hours in the event of mains failure. In addition to controlling and monitoring the battery charging process, the PS1400 includes extensive facilities for capacity testing, voltage monitoring and alarm signalling.
Featuring an input voltage range of 195 to 256VAC, the system is protected by a 10A slow-blow fuse and conforms to the EN 60950 safety standard, as well as the EN 61000-3-2, -6-2 and -6-3 standards for electromagnetic compatibility.
The PS1400 is particularly suitable for use with Schroff's SEC148-200 range of compact 200W AC/DC plug-in modules, which achieve an efficiency of 90% using only convection cooling.
