Orange Business Services is building a new data center for Indian state-owned power generating utility Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation that will be managed by Orange for five years.

The Hamchal Pradesh facility will allow the utility to roll out SAP applications and services critical for billing, records and inventory logistics, according to Express Computer Online.

Orange, a subsidiary of France Telcom-Orange, will also commission maintenance at a disaster recovery center in Chennai for the power corporation.

It will work with APC, CA Technologies and Juniper on the projects the utility said will make the delivery of power services more efficient in the state.

The utility is currently developing a number of hydro electric, wind, thermal and  solar power projects. It has a growth target of installed power generating capacity of 5,000MW by 2022

Historically, DCIM systems have over-promised and under-delivered. Vendors have supplied complex and costly solutions which fail to address real business drivers and goals. Yet the rewards can be vast and go well beyond better-informed decision-making, to facilitate continuous improvement and cost savings across the infrastructure. How can vendors, customers and the industry as a whole take a better approach? Find out on our webinar on Wednesday 15 July.
