US data center services provider Data Based Systems international (DBSi) has launched its newest data center in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. This is the company's third data center.

The 220,000-sq-ft facility has room to expand by another 100,000 sq ft, and the site's power capacity can scale to more than 100MW, according to a DBSi news release.

In March, DBSi raised $35m and said it would use some of the new capital to compete the Breinigsville data center.

The carrier-neutral facility will be brought online in four phases. The first phase is about half-full, leased to a number of clients in the healthcare and manufacturing industries.

St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network is a healthcare client of the new facility. The organization's director of architecture and engineering Jeff Stone said in a statement, DBSi offered the best options to the medical system among providers it evaluated.

"Making a data center hosting decision was easy. The challenge was in identifying a viable location that would best secure our investment in systems and health care information and would be capable of scaling into the future," he added.

DBSi provides managed hosting, colocation and disaster recovery. The company also has a healthcare-centric managed data center business.

Its other data centers are in Valley Forge and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. All three of DBSi's data centers are connected by a dark fiber ring, in case customers wish to set up active-active site topologies.

DBSi says it currently has more than 300 customers.
