Orange Business Services is building a new data center for Indian state-owned power generating utility Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation that will be managed by Orange for five years.

The Hamchal Pradesh facility will allow the utility to roll out SAP applications and services critical for billing, records and inventory logistics, according to Express Computer Online.

Orange, a subsidiary of France Telcom-Orange, will also commission maintenance at a disaster recovery center in Chennai for the power corporation.

It will work with APC, CA Technologies and Juniper on the projects the utility said will make the delivery of power services more efficient in the state.

The utility is currently developing a number of hydro electric, wind, thermal and  solar power projects. It has a growth target of installed power generating capacity of 5,000MW by 2022
