ABB embeds nlyte into its Decathlon DCIM

Swiss-based power giant ABB said it will embed nlyte Software’s Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) suite as part of the ABB Decathlon Data Centre Enterprise Management (DCEM) product offering.
Decathlon products manage energy usage across multiple sites and the nlyte suite will add  capacity planning and business process automation.
“ABB is taking the approach of integrating best-in-class software by combining their real time power and control with nlyte Software’s move/add/change management and what-if capacity planning,” said Andy Lawrence, research director at The 451 Group. “Together they deliver a full set of capabilities for enterprise-class data centre management.”
Additional functions of the combined systems include unified facilities and energy management, improved reliability – condition-based maintenance, recommending service when equipment is not working to its fullest potential and data analysis of IT load patterns.
“We are thrilled that ABB is including nlyte in the Decathlon Suite. Data centre professionals live in a heterogeneous world and, unlike many of the other power equipment manufacturers, ABB understands the value of taking a best-of-breed approach in helping customers optimise data centre efficiency,” said Todd Goldman, VP product management of nlyte Software.
“Our customers are comprised of some of the world’s largest mission critical facilities,” said Mike Heatherman, ABB group vice president, process automation control technologies, Americas. “The nlyte DCIM suite provides them with industry best practices for optimising the use of power, cooling and space through the optimal placement of data centre assets.”
