IT vendor Siemens has opened a Centre of Competence (CoC) in Mumbai to provide data center growth and support across the Asia Pacific, according to Infotech Lead.

A CoC is an organizational structure used to coordinate IT skills with an enterprise.

Competency centers provide expertise for project or program support, acting both as repositories of knowledge and resource pools for multiple business areas.

Skills-based competency centers are used for application development, software language skills, data management, internet development and network design.

Siemens’ head of data center CoC for APAC Philip Krause said customers will benefit from low operating costs and the CoC will drive the growth of Siemens products and solutions for data center customers, covering ten countries across APAC.

The company said it is seeing opportunities within the Indian data center products market as data stored doubles every 18 months with demand on supporting infrastructures also rising.
