Data center security experts have concentrated on the security of their data, ignoring the danger to the facility that can be posed by an attack on systems for power and cooling, according to Barak Perelman 

“If you turn off an air conditioner, within ten minutes you don’t have a data center,” said Barak Perelman, CEO of  Indegy, a specialist in the security of SCADA and industrial controls, in an interview at DCD Zettastructure in London. “In the data center realm it is still widely unknown that these systems are so vulnerable and so similar to other infrastructures that are already starting to deal with this problem. 

Close monitoring of the infrastructure of a data center can improve its security - but also provide an audit trail for any changes to the systems in the facility.
