UK start up Iceotope has launched a liquid cooled GPU compatible server blade for graphics cards and media accelerators.

The latest PetaGen product has two Intel Xeon E5-2687 v3 CPUs and two AMD S9100 GPUs, is capable of accommodating 225W GPUs, and can support up to 4.2 TFLOPS of peak double precision floating point performance.

“This is a great milestone for Iceotope and a big step forward for more sustainable high-performance computing,” Peter Hopton, founder and technology director at Iceotope said.

“HPC users no longer need to choose between accelerated performance and improved data center efficiency, now they can achieve both.”

He added: “By incorporating GPU computing within our unique liquid cooled blade design we’ve added greater expandability and flexibility to our product range and made it possible for users to achieve faster results and undertake more complex analysis at the same time as making significant savings on the amount of floor space and energy used for IT.”

Iceotope claim that its system of total immersion in an inert liquid coolant uses 80 percent less cooling energy than air cooled systems and allows customers to reach Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) levels of less than 1.1.

The new product takes up a dual server blade slot in an Iceotope cabinet that measures less than one square meter of floor space.
