Global data center power market growing at over 10 percent annually

From US$12.30 bn in 2015 to US$20.44bn in 2020 says new research

A new report from Research and Markets says that the energy consumption rate of data centers is rising due to their rapid international expansion. The market for data center power services is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.8 percent during the period to 2020, owing to factors such as efficient power management and control services with increasing requirements for other services.

The expenditure associated with the power consumption of a data center accounts for a major portion of the total operating costs of that data center.

  • Any data on current DC Energy foot print across world.? Currently all reports are based on EPA report in 2007. This report is based on DC Energy estimates between 2000 to 2006 with some prediction up to 2011 with different scenario. However, no data current DC energy condumption either in US or across world.

  • Good question - it's generally thought that DC power distribution hasn't taken off in the data center, but we may be relying on old data.....

  • Glad to see the very positive projection of Data Center Energy Requirements (market). However, we are hearing of substantial slow down in the UPS market from past few months and it is going on. Is there a reason for this..?
