Emerson Network Power, the large provider of data center infrastructure solutions, has launched a new enclosure for data center equipment, which it says is lighter, stronger and easier to use than the competing products.

The new Knurr DCM rack is offered through Emerson's Liebert business. Key selling points include easy installation of servers and infrastructure components, such as power distribution units and uninterruptible power supply systems. It uses the vendor's patented variable mounting system, which allows equipment to be installed at any position within the rack instead of aligning it with pre-drilled holes in other rack systems.

Jeff Sturgeon, VP of marketing and solutions for Liebert products in North America said the equipment rack has come to play a key role in management of data centers with rising power densities. "The Knurr DCM provides IT managers with a hassle-free, flexible, efficient solution to protect the densely packed computing power of virtualized servers and switches, optimize air flow and maximize useful mounting space," he said in a statement.

The rack is designed to handle frequent equipment changes and to maximize efficient use of space. Emerson says its extruded aluminum framing is stronger than standard steel-frame racks while being half as heavy.

The Knurr DCM enclosure is offered in 24U, 42U and 45U heights; 24in, 28in and 32in widths; and 40in, 44in and 48in depths. Accessories include two cable management solutions, PDU mounting brackets, fixed and telescopic shelves, top-cover-based cable routing system, full range of Liebert environmental sensors.

The solution is now available in Europe, Middle East, Africa and North America, where it is sold through local Liebert representatives and through resellers, which include CDW, Ingram Micro and Dell.
