Specialist consultancy and investment fund Zenium Data Centers is one step closer to launching its second data center in Frankfurt, having finished building it out. Remaining is the task of fitting it out with equipment, though the company has yet to set a launch date for the facility.

Although still operating under the Zenium brand, the company was acquired by CyrusOne in December last year for $442m, placing its existing data centers in London and Frankfurt under new ownership.

Once operational, the latest facility will provide 7,500 sq m (80,730 sq ft) of technical space and 17.6MW of power capacity. When it broke ground on the facility last year, Zenium had already pre-leased 7MW of its available power.

The data center is adjacent to the company’s other Frankfurt facility in Sossenheim, which it bought from Dutch ICT provider Imtech in 2014, and will soon be home to a third: the company bought a 6.8 acre greenfield site nearby from a local data center provider.

The three facilities will give Zenium 25,400 sq m (273,400 sq ft) of total data center floor space in Germany’s financial capital.

Zenium previously owned another data center in Istanbul, Turkey, but this was acquired by Equinix in October last year.
