American colocation provider Data Foundry has officially opened its second facility in Houston, Texas.

The Houston 2 is a carrier-neutral data center set inside a 350,000 square feet building which includes white space, office space and supporting facilities.

“Data Foundry’s brand represents our history of great customer service and premier colocation data centers, so it was natural for us to expand our footprint in the nation’s fourth largest city and address the unprecedented customer demand,” said Edward Henigin, CTO of Data Foundry.

“We’re thrilled that the Houston market recognizes the quality that we offer and is buying our services at a rapid pace.”

Purpose-built

Data Foundry (formerly Texas.net) is a privately held company headquartered in Austin. Originally an ISP, today it owns and operates four data centers across the state. Its latest facility is located in Greenspoint District - a hub for several technology companies that together form part of the Houston Technology Corridor.

Set on an 18-acre campus, Houston 2 offers colocation, managed services, 60,000 square feet of dedicated office space and a 75-person technology briefing center for events and presentations.

Its customers will have access to 60 MW of power and more than 11 network carriers. The facility supports up to 50kW load per cabinet for High Performance Computing needs.

Data Foundry says the depressed slab design allows for zero ramps from the loading dock to the white space, while the roof has been designed to withstand winds of up to 185 MPH – especially important in a region frequently hit by hurricanes.
