At DCD we’re always on the lookout for something different, ways to present information that give us an excuse to delve ever deeper into the topics that affect our industry and the world around us.

With that in mind, we’ve launched a new publishing initiative, exploring mission critical IT infrastructure within different industries - starting with factory manufacturing.

To take advantage of the longer format, the content is hosted on a separate website - viewable by going here, or by clicking on the image below.

The intelligent factory

In an age when ’digitization’ and ’smart’ have become overused buzzwords, it is easy to miss important changes that are actually taking place, and we believe special care should be given to the future of factories.

Global economic powers like Germany and China are racing to embrace a shift that some are calling Industry 4.0, where networks of connected machines collect massive amounts of data through sensors, and then act upon that data in ways that are only possible due to this new level of insight and perception.

The hope is that through analytics, the manufacturing process, supply chain and customer experience can all be profoundly changed. But doing this requires mission critical IT - that means data centers.

In this longer, more interactive feature, we trace the history of Industry 4.0, discover what is needed to make it a reality and talk to those dealing with its affects. We also explore the convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) mindsets, with an in-depth research report collecting information from 57 companies in manufacturing and production, added in to boot.

We hope you like it.
