Zenium Technology Partners has acquired a 5,000 sq m data center near Frankfurt, built by Dutch ICT provider Imtech.

The carrier neutral facility, which was completed in 2012, will be renamed Zenium Frankfurt One. It is expected to triple its size to 15,000 sq m following the construction of another two data halls.

“Technical expertise in data center construction is the core competence of our newly formed, dedicated data center business unit,” said Felix Colsman, CEO of Imtech Deutchland. “We believe that Frankfurt One demonstrates Imtech’s specialist skills in data center design and build.”

Zenium is a Data center consultancy and investment fund with a proven track record, having previously worked with operators like Global Switch and Sentrum. Its latest acquisition is located in Sossenheim, easily accessible from the largest financial center on the continent and the Frankfurt Airport.

The campus is served by 110kV diverse feeds with a dedicated electrical plant for each of the five floors. The facility will operate at a PUE of around 1.3 when it reaches full capacity. It includes meeting rooms, breakout areas, on-site security and management, and each data suite can be customized to individual client specifications.

Zenium says Frankfurt One already hosts an unnamed “global telecommunications and cloud services provider”.

“In response to demand from our global customer base, this acquisition enables us to immediately bring new space to market in one of the most important European data center locations,” said Franek Sodzawiczny, Zenium CEO.

“Combining energy efficiency and the scope for scalability, Frankfurt One will allow us to introduce our innovative approach to high quality data center provision to this vibrant and growing market from the outset.”

The deal follows the purchase of Istanbul One campus in Turkey where development began in spring 2014 and for which the first tenant has already been signed.
