US managed hosting company Windstream Hosting Solutions held an official opening event for its latest data center in Franklin, Tennessee (just outside of Nashville), built by Compass Datacenters, earlier this week.

The facility is a standard Compass product: a 22,000 sq ft building, providing 10,000 sq ft of raised floor, 1.2MW of critical power and all the power and cooling infrastructure necessary to support it. The Dallas-based developer announced completion of the facility in April.

This is the second data center Compass built for Windstream. The other one was in Durham, North Carolina.

Little Rock, Arkansas-based Windstream will use the facilities to provide managed services, data storage and cloud hosting services.

Chris Nicolini, Windstream's senior VP of data center operations, said, “Our data centers are built to the highest specifications, and with the level of smart solutions and personalized service that Windstream offers, our Nashville data center customers are afforded the most secure and solid service available.”

In addition to the two Compass-built facilities, Windstream has recently contracted with Server Farm Realty to build a data center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and leased a powered data center shell at the Intergate.Manhattan building owned by Sabey Corp.
