Virtus Data Centres has been recognized by the Uptime Institute for its London2 facility’s operational standards, which were awarded Tier III certification.

The globally recognized award relates to the quality of the data centers design documents, which outlined plans for its environmentally friendly architecture and economy of energy use.

This award makes Virtus one of only three data centers in London to reach this standard.

According to a company statement, its next targets will be to meet international standards organization (ISO) and information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) certifications.

The firm has hired business management systems consultancy Blackmores to help it achieve the ISO benchmarks in quality assurance (ISO9001), environmental management (ISO14001) and energy management (ISO500001).

Virtus has already achieved the required standard in information security (ISO27001).

The London2 facility, which opens in September, is to use Excool technology for heat management.

Virtus is to shape its management processes using IT service management discipline ITIL with all current and future operational staff being trained and certified according to its guidelines.

Virtus CEO Neil Cresswell said it’s extremely important that we maintain the top international standards for the data center industry.

“Customers should not have to compromise on price or quality,” Cresswell said.

“By these certifications we are showing that Virtus can not only beat our competitors on flexibility but also ensure we do so without compromising on the high quality of service we deliver”.
